MCAS Summit:
FREE from October 16-22, 2023
I'll be talking about the SIBO - MCAS - Histamine Connection during this free summit.
Click Here to Join - Mastering Mast Cell Activation
Hosted by Kelly McCann & Beth O'Hara
SIBO can lead to MCAS and MCAS may indirectly lead to SIBO, which is why I'm a speaker at the free MCAS summit starting next week.
Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) is a chronic condition in which mast cells have become overactive and release inflammatory mediators to ordinary circumstances – things that people without MCAS would have no problems tolerating.
Symptoms include - gut issues, abdominal pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance, heart palpitations, flushing or itching, wheezing, headaches, anxiety, mood disorders and many more.
Common MCAS Triggers include - infections, foods and supplements, temperature differences, pressure, stress, fragrances, mold, chemicals.

Mold, Mycotoxin, and Chronic Illness Summit
Free from October 17-23, 2023
Mold is an underlying cause of SIBO, and often creates very tough to treat cases.
It can weaken the immune system and create various symptoms like: digestive issues, brain fog, fatigue, headaches, respiratory symptoms and more.
If you've been exposed to mold or want to find out if you have been, and learn what to do about it, register for the summit.
When you register, you get instant FREE access to several helpful registration bonuses.
Next Steps for Treating Tough SIBO Masterclass Summit
Free from November 8-10
Are you or your patients struggling with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth / Intestinal Methanogen Overgrowth ... even after treatment? Do you/they get better... and then relapse? Maybe you/they can't seem to get better at all?
Then there's a good chance it's a "tough case."
Good news - a tough case doesn't mean a lost cause!
I created an entire conference for those who have tried the traditional approaches to SIBO - like diet and various antibacterial treatments - but STILL aren't getting better.
It's called the Next Steps to Treating Tough SIBO Masterclass Summit, and my co-host Shivan Sarna and I are sharing it for free!
November 8-10 (watch 2 classes once you register)
It includes non-antibacterial treatment options, many of which are perfect for those who are sensitive to foods and supplements.

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) Documentary
My friend and colleague Dr. Weinstock, along with Dr. Dempsey, are developing a not-for-profit documentary about MCAS, EDS and POTS and their link to chronic relapsing SIBO and other conditions. Patients often suffer for many years and are misdiagnosed or “dismissed” by doctors.
Drs. Weinstock and Dempsey want to increase education and awareness of these diseases and believe a documentary is a great way to do this. The LDN Research Trust is producing it.
In addition to a well-produced documentary (akin to “Unrest” for CFS/ME), there will be a link to an educational YouTube channel with a collection of voice over PowerPoint lectures for patients and practitioners.
The physicians are volunteering their efforts, but they have to pay for the movie production expenses.
They welcome any support, at any level. This will be greatly appreciated.
Visit www.MCASfund.com to donate.

trio-smart (U.S.)

This tests all 3 gases: Hydrogen, Methane & Hydrogen Sulfide
Note: trio-smart is a 2 hour test with 15 minute sampling. For better assessment of large intestine methane and hydrogen sulfide, I recommend sampling breath every 22 minutes (vs 15 minutes) to stretch to test to near 3 hours. The lab adjusts results automatically.
Blood Test
ibs-smart
(order here)
This blood test tells us if the cause of SIBO is food poisoning, when positive.
It is also used as screening test for IBS/SIBO since the majority of IBS is SIBO caused by food poisoning.

-
Antibiotics inhibit methanogenesis during municipal solid waste decomposition. PMID: 37758143
- This study looked at antibiotics against methane fermentation in sewage sludge and found that "Metronidazole, AMO [Amoxicillin] and CIP [Ciprofloxacin] exerted the most significant effect on the fermentation process". Metronidazole had the most potent effect, which makes sense since it is a key methane treatment. While Neomycin (another key methane treatment) wasn't tested, Amoxicillin and Ciprofloxacin also showed effect against methanogenesis.
